State of Mind

Brewery: Collective Arts (Hamilton Ontario)

Type:  Session IPA

ABV: 4.4%

IBU: 38

Thoughts:Super floral hop smell right at the crack of the can.  Nice frothy white coloured head and golden bright color.  Looks like a refreshing lager more than an ale.  Well to be honest this is a biting and dry beer.  My mouth feels stripped of saliva as I drink it.  This is not very IPA to me- not sure why they are calling it that.  It’s called a session IPA strictly because it’s 4.4% but it is not sessionable according to drinkability.  It’s overbearingly absent of anything pleasant.  It’s unapologetically astringent.  A disappointing beer.  Probably done with C-A brewing.

They’ve had some decent beers and some really bad ones. In my opinion, as a brewing company you shouldn’t even have 1 bad beer…

That’s a good point, though. Back to the “sessionable” debate. I totally agree that you can’t call something sessionable if it’s not easy drinking. Even if it was a great tasting beer but had strong flavours…

    I completely agree. Useless title.
