Special Pale Ale

Brewery: Wellington Brewery

Type: Special Pale Ale

ABV: 4.5%

IBU: 22

Appearance / Aroma: Deep amber color, a bit hazy. Medium dense head that disappears a somewhat quickly. Smells clean with a tangy grain note at the front.

Taste / Feel:  Quite a light body and not super strong in taste. However, some malted grain comes back with the exhale. There also isn’t much bitterness here, except for the smallest hint midway through the sip. Because the body is a bit watery it doesn’t get much traction.

Overall, I feel like it’s lacking some flavor; perhaps a little bland. It’s still a good beer, well balanced and the flavors that are there are good, but I’ve come to expect a bit more from Wellington. Especially considering this is their flagship beer.
