Brewery: Kichesippi Beer Co.

Type: Amber Ale

ABV: 5.2%

IBU: 27/31 (depends where you look)

Appearance / Aroma: The 1855 has a tangy malt smell with maybe the slightest hint of hops. The head is off-white, dense and sticks around for a good amount of time while the beer itself is a rich caramel color, almost identical to the empty bottle from whence it came (although the image doesn’t really show it the same way).

Taste / Feel: First, I notice a similar tangy roasted malt. Through the middle I can taste a very faint hint of sweet raising as well as some bitterness. The bitterness continues through to the end of the mouthful while the exhale brings the malts back in a subtle way.

Overall, pretty good. Fairly light body and the bitterness actually doesn’t bother me as much as other beers. It seems to have a good balance with the malts.

Edit: after drinking half the glass the bitterness has accumulated some and I’m beginning to dislike it.

Only other criticism is that the carbonation is a bit on the high side.

Also, the beer bottle says it’s 27 IBUs while the website claims 31… not a huge deal but worth noting.
