Brewery: Big Rig Brewery
Type: Black IPA
Appearance / Aroma: Smell has a good mix of hops and malts; earthy and sweet while working in that distinct perfumy hop aroma. It has a dark, coffee color with a big, thick brown head.
Taste / Feel: Right away I can taste the hops. They’re slightly sweet and have a floral flavor to them. On the whole, I was expecting a much stronger, more intense flavor. I do taste that smokey, roasted malt that’s characteristic to a dark beer but I was hoping for a bit more. It does come back decently in the exhale without the hop flavor.
There is a lingering bitterness in the aftertaste, but nothing during the mouthful. This observation was before I knew it had an IBU rating of 72.
