Brewery: Black Oak Brewing Company Ltd.
Type: Brown Ale
Thoughts: The first moments of the sip are met with some carbonation and bitterness, and this is common for almost half the glass until you get desensitized to it. Through the middle of the mouthful the bitterness subsides and gives way to a subtle raisin/malt flavor, something I’ve found common to English ales. Unfortunately, though, it’s short lived and the bitterness makes a return and lingers a little longer than is welcome.
I do enjoy the medium body, though. It coats your mouth a little; not enough to be syrupy but enough to say that there’s some substance to it.
Overall it wasn’t horrible but I’ve come to expect a little better from local brews.
